Here are the steps on how to install a tarp on your roof without nails.

Tarp roof without nails.

These nails should be placed 12 to 18 apart. The 2 by 4 should be about 2 feet longer than the tarp width. Installing tarp on a roof without nails. Next install furring strips to the parallel bottom side of the tarp.

But you can still lay a tarp over the roof and secure it with long straps and fasteners. You need to know first which spot on the roof needs tarping up. Use felt roofing nails with a plastic washer to help secure the tarp to the roof. It s not quite as secure as nails but it may be the only option.

Installing a tarp on your roof is easier than you think. Attach the 1x2s through the tarp and into the roof decking with eight penny nails about every 16 inches. Create an anchor board by rolling the tarp s peak end with a 2 x 4 inch board and nailing the tarp to your board with your 3 inch nails. Then fold the excess tarp under a few rotations for a tight clean fit.

It s even easier if you do it without nails. Starting at a corner drive a galvanized roofing nail into the strip and into the roof sheathing. Find the source of the leak. Make sure to tighten the tarp as much as possible to the structure.

This method cannot work without nails. The board must be 2 feet longer than the tarp s width and it should sit against the roof to avoid the collection of rainwater snow or debris. Continue along the length of the ridge line.
