Just a short video to show how you can test a door lock actuator using a car battery or a car jumper.
Testing door lock solenoid.
Unplug the door lock actuator electrical connector.
Here we have soldered all the components on the perf board so that it can be mounted on the door easily.
The final solenoid test.
Circuit breaker box should be locked by personnel following this procedure.
Door lock systems operate the actuator by toggling positive negative voltage to the actuator.
So to test it mount the perf board on the door frame and magnet on the door so that it can detect the door movement.
Then use your test light or digital meter to check for power and ground at the connector when you operate the lock unlock switch.
Locate the solenoid generally found either next to or as a part built into the starter and then with a friend s help insert and turn the vehicle s key.
You should see the voltage polarity toggle with each switch activation.
Ensure that all electrical power is shut off and disconnected before proceeding.
Test the door lock solenoid.
Once you are ready with the code and hardware you can start testing the solenoid door lock project.
